Our next talk will be on Monday, 21 September 2020 at 7pm.
Lambeth Palace Library is one of the oldest public libraries in the UK, having been given to the nation by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1610. The Church of England’s collection of books, manuscripts and historic records held there date from the 9th century to the present day. Clare Wright, architect of the new library building scheduled to open in the grounds of Lambeth Palace early in 2021, tells us about the thinking behind the building’s design. This will be a virtual talk as part of Lambeth Heritage Festival (all virtual this year) and will also commemorate the UNESCO Public Library Manifesto.
